SOFTNESS with sturdy durability! This knit is 100% silk, 100% Peace silk and Organically Grown. The yarn is spun, so this knit fabric is thicker and softer than other silk knits on the maket (which are of reeled Chinese filament). Also, coming from the Ahimsa project in India, you know that the producers are small independant farmers who are well paid for their labour of Love.

This fabric's thread is smooth spun Ahimsa™ Peace silk. "Peace" silk, also called vegetarian silk, is from cocoons from which the moth has completed its transformation and emerges free and happy. For more information, read Cheryl's "About Peace Silk" article.

Staple is approximately 2" and the yarn is two-ply for a soft, sparkly luster; drapey hand; and excellent durability. Check our our entire collection of Ahimsa™ Peace Silk fabrics.

Knit in a tube, the open width is 56". It has very good elasticity and does not stretch out of shape. Does shrink lengthways about 10% with water washing, and then is stable. Regular knit stitch, with a flat knit fae and a pebbly "purl" back.

This is now a regular Aurora Silk offering, in partners with the Ahimsa (Patented) Mulberry Peace silk project in India.
