Shimmer Sunshine Yellow is hand dyed by Master Natural Dyer Cheryl Kolander, (who Is Aurora Silk). The dyestuff used is the wonderful Fusticwood tree of the New World, the Caribbean and Central America. The dye is formed in the heartwood of these trees, and the colour we receive from this is a brilliant yellow, just like captured, radiant sunshine.

Cheryl Kolander, Master Natural Dyer who IS Aurora Silk has specially formulated this proprietary artisan colour. It is a world-unique creation in colour joy. The experience of wearing this colour is like wearing sunshine.

Shiny satin on one side, matte crepe on the other, this shimmery fabric is similar to a 16 momme mid-weight satin Charmeuse. However, there is a subtile surface texture created by the longer "floats" of this satin. Because of the crepe back, the drape has slightly more bias give than does the Charmeuse.

Fabric Information

Fibre content: 100% natural silk; reeled silk from conventionally raised cocoons
Source: China for the fabric. Dominican Republic Logwood Project for the dye. American Artist for the dyework.

Weight per linear yard: aprox 2.2 oz
Commonly used for: Blouses, lingerie, stoles, evening dresses, skirts, dancing scarves, wall drapes.
Therapeutic: yellow brightens the mind and the mood. Botanically, Fustic is taken as an immune stimulant. It is used topically in the same way as Goldenseal, and has the same properties.
Weft (width) shrinkage:fully pre-shrunk
Warp (length) shrinkage:fully pre-shrunk
Recommended care: Fully pre washed! ready to cut and sew.
Machine wash: gentle cycle, warm water, mild soap (hand dishwashing soap like Crystal White or Ivory). Never use bleach or harsh detergents on silk.
Tumble dry on low heat. Remove from dryer as soon as dry. For smoothest finish, iron from barely damp state on "wrong" side of fabric.
Alternate care: Hand wash, line dry and iron smooth. Or Dry Clean.
