This quality textile grade hemp fibre for handspinning has been combed and very well cleaned. Enzyme retted, vanilla beige in colour, slightly coarser than our very fine grade roving, the fibre has a very springy hand. Individual fibres average 6" in length.
Beautiful in natural, it also dyes rich colours. Standard Natural dye recipes work well with this hemp, using proportions as for silk (mordant as for wool, then double the dyestuff). I hope you enjoy working with this quality fibre and creating many beautiful and useful pieces with it.

Suggestions for spinning: pull out a small amount to work with at a time. Aim to lay the fibres parallel: grasp the ends and straighten the fibres by several pullings, or run them through a wool card, comb or "flick." Spin as with any cut fibre, "from the fold," "from the end," or "speed spin" as with wool.
This fibre can also be blended with wool for a more elastic yarn, or with silk for a more lustrous one.
