White, cultivated Bombyx Mori silk. The fibre is prepared from the outer floss of the cocoons and from the "pierced" or breeder cocoons. It is degummed, pulled out, cut to uniform length and combed into a regular and even silk roving or "top".
Spin using any wool technique. Staple is aprox 4".
Very soft and lusterous. Dyes beautifully (place in lingerie bags for handling in the dyebath).
This special spinning fibre is from silk raised in India. It is raised on small family farms using methods consistent with Organic standards.
