"Hi Cheryl,
here's the gal who came by around noon and bought the tannin and the Logwood - bloody hell that stuff is AMAZING!!! Of course i am not done yet but - oh my gosh the color is just incredibly beautiful.
Thanks for selling it to me!
Daniela"

"I just wanted to thank you and let you know that the Logwood I purchased from you was wonderful. This is the first time I have worked with natural dyes, and I must say from this experience forth, natural dyes will be the only thing I will use. Thank you for turning me on to the theraputic artistry of natural dyeing.
Best regards,
Shari Strmac, SewBlue, LLC"

Q:

"Hi, I want to dye my hair permanent glossy blue black. Should I use indigo dye kit? Does it give damage to hair? I have done sample tests to my hair with indigofera tinctoria that I have bought from [someone else]. However, it didn't turn blue black. I would be very pleased if you could help me.
Thanks.

"Logwood is the traditional blue black hair dye.  It has been used in the Caribbean for thousands of years.  Boil the Logwood shavings, strain, add some iron mordant and apply.

Sincerely, Cheryl Kolander, Master Natural Dyer, who IS Aurora Silk"

Logwood

Some of the beautiful colors you can create with Logwood and different mordants.  With Tannin and Iron you can make Black (AS #13), with Alum you get Purple (AS #14) and Tin gives you Amethyst (AS #52).

Dominican Republic Logwood Shavings

This exceptional logwood has been hand-harvested in association with Mama D.O.C.'s Logwood Project to help bring money and work to the natives of the small island.  This Logwood has been harvested from the best old growth tree (70+ years) available.  For the one tree that's been harvested 10 have been planted.  We'd like to thank you for your well wishes on the D.R. logwood project.

Note: My logwood has already been fermented and is ready to use!

"This is the finest quality Logwood I have used in all my 30 yearsof professional natural dyeing. SOAK overnight before extracting. Quite strong: good purples with 4 oz or less per pound of fibre."– Cheryl Kolander, MasterNatural Dyer

Dominican Republic "Red" Logwood

This is special unaged logwood that has benn hand-harvested in association with Mama D.O.C.'s Logwood Project to help bring money and work to the natives of the small island. Special care has been taken to harvest and dry without aging and fermenting. Due to the attention it requires in production it is extremely rare.  It produces excellent "Rust Red" colours and is what you need for making extracts.  It has been quickly processed and dried to keep it's anti-oxidant properties.
