Description
Beautiful for clothes, wall hangings and needlework. It is an especially beautiful color for evening dress, because the tone of the red deepens in evening and indoor light, but is not fast to sunlight.

ALISON KELLY –
I’m dyeing about 2 yards of silk charmeuse with about 2 tablespoons of the extract and alum—I want a deeply saturated length of silk. At first the color looks quite orange, a pretty orange, but I am looking for red or magenta. I add about a tablespoon of calcium citrate to the acidic New York City water I use and voila! The fabric turns a rich magenta. The extract is very water soluble, easy to mix and I am very pleased with the results, this color has not been achieved in my natural dye world as of yet, so I’ll def be buying more.
