Aurora Silk is proud to present our new line of dyed Ahimsa™ Peace Silk Embellishment Yarn. We have developed these 21 heritage colors made using dyes and techniques that are thousands of years old. Each skein is 100 meters long.
Aurora Silk colors are created from 100% Natural Dyes: Madder, Cochineal, Osage Orange (American Fusticwood), Logwood, Catechu, Weld; and the minerals of natural Alum, Tin, Copper and Iron. Hand dyed in small batches in the 5,000 year old traditional way.
All colors are authentically hand dyed by Master Natural Dyer Cheryl Kolander using 100% pure natural dyes. Cheryl, who IS “Aurora Silk”, has been naturally dyeing beautiful permanent colors PROFESSIONALLY since 1969: for 50 years!
Ahimsa™ Peace Silk is no-kill vegetarian friendly natural Bombyx Mori silk, home raised on small farms in India. Processed only after the moth has emerged to mate, lay eggs and die naturally and happy. Ahimsa™ silk is organically raised and fair trade.
